Sharon M. Welsh, 73, a longtime resident of South Amboy, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, NJ.
Sharon was born in the Ironbound Section of Newark, NJ, and lived in South Amboy for over 40 years before moving to Sayreville in 2015.
Prior to retiring in 2016, Sharon dedicated herself as a teacher’s aide for the South Amboy Board of Education, serving at South Amboy Elementary School for nearly 20 years. Prior to her tenure at the school, she served as a crossing guard for the city of South Amboy, fostering many enduring relationships.
She is preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, William H. Welsh, her parents, Leo and Josephine (nee Sapienza) O’Neill, her cherished sister Kathleen Welsh (nee O’Neill), and her beloved brother, Eugene O’Neill.
Sharon is survived by her children Brian Welsh and his wife, Heather, of Matawan; Edward Welsh and his husband, David Simone, of Atlanta, GA; and her step-son William Welsh of Easton, PA, and step-daughter Jayne Corrado (nee Welsh) and her husband, David of Wind Gap, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Liam Welsh, Michael Corrado, Gianna Corrado, Ashley Welsh, and William Welsh, along with two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited on Saturday, May 4, 2024, to Aftercare Cremation Service (AKA: Raritan Bay Funeral Service) from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM to celebrate Sharon's life. Private cremation will follow, and inurnment will be conducted privately by the family.
