Phyllis Amato

Phyllis Ann Amato nee Russo, 92, of Swedesboro, NJ, formally of Old Bridge, NJ, passed away peacefully, March 19, 2019 at her home with her dear family by her side. Phyllis was born in Hoboken, NJ, June 15, 1926 to William and Mary Russo. Phyllis worked for the Highway Authority of New Jersey early in life before working for the township of Old Bridge registrar’s office until she retired.

Phyllis loved to sing and play the piano. She loved to sing so much that she became an active choir member for St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Old Bridge, NJ for many years. Phyllis loved ceramics and watching her favorite television show Blue Bloods, but most Importantly loved being with her family and grandchildren as often as she could.

Phyllis is pre-deceased by her parents William and Mary Russo; Husband, Nunzio Amato; sons, Salvatore Amato and Tony Amato. She is survived by her son, William Amato of Belvedere, NJ; daughter, Phyllis Connor and her husband Donald of Swedesboro, NJ; sister, Rosalie Saggio of Woodridge, NJ; grandchildren, Donald Jr. (Tammy) of Carney’s Point, NJ, Heather Connor of North Plainfield, NJ, James Connor of Swedesboro, NJ; grandchildren,Salvatore W. Amato Jr. of Old Bridge, NJ and Paul Nunzio Amato of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; great grandchildren, Dylan, Brooke, Angelina, Savana, and Christopher. She will be truly missed by all but never forgotten.
