Marjorie “Nanny” Freeman (nee Birtel), 76, of Edison passed away peacefully on April 3, 2017 at Cranbury Center with her loving family at her side. Born and raised in Scranton, PA, she settled in Edison, NJ.
Marjorie spent most of her days raising her three boys that she was very proud of. In her spare time she enjoyed playing golf with her husband Russell, and collecting coins as her father did before her. She loved vacationing in Myrtle Beach with her family and searching for sand dollars and shark teeth in Murrells Inlet. Her true passion was being a mother, wife and grandmother and always wanted to spend her time with the family at every moment she could.
Marjorie is predeceased by her loving husband Russell Freeman, her parents Willard and Marie Birtel and her Brother John (Jackie). Surviving are her loving sons, Michael and his wife, Grace Ann of Pennsylvania, Russell and his wife, Susan of Spotswood, and Joseph and his partner, Nancy Steinmacher of Keyport, her grandchildren, Jared, Paul, Vincent, Christina, Jeff, Matthew and his wife, Julia, Brian, Allen and his wife, Alex, great grandson, Damien, Sisters, Colleen and Marilyn and her husband Jim and many dear lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Guardian Trade Service, LLC., 241 Bordentown Ave, South Amboy. A funeral Mass will take place Friday, April 7 at 10:15 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, 32 Elm Avenue, Metuchen. Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Burial Park, Jamesburg, NJ, Saturday, April 8, at 2 PM In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marjorie’s memory may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Guardian Trade Service, LLC, 241 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy, NJ. Cremation is Private.
