Gerda Toth

Gerda B. Toth, 80, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021, at her home in Edison after a yearlong battle with cancer. Born in Briggs, Germany on November 15, 1940 to Vladzimir and Wiera Kabuska, came to the United States at an early age living in the Highland Park and New Brunswick, NJ areas before settling down in Edison, NJ for almost 60 years.

Gerda was a truly humble and generous lifetime member of the United Methodist Church of New Brunswick. She would attend Sunday services at the United Methodist Church almost every week until her later years where it became more difficult to attend in person. However, with persistence and perseverance she was able to continue to attend Sunday services with a little help from family and modern technology.

Gerda loved to travel! Earlier in life, she would travel to many places around the world with the love of her life Billy until his passing in 2013. One of the last few places they were able to spend together was in Punta Cana, Mexico. She also loved to travel to what is known as one of the most beautiful places on earth, Aruba, holding a time share there for many decades, she would travel with not only Bill, but often would share that time together with her two daughters, Tracy, and Diane. One of her favorite things to do not only in Aruba, but here in the states was to gamble. She loved, going gambling with her daughters and grandchildren. With a bit of luck and angels watching over, she would always be the one to walk out a winner!

Gerda is predeceased by her dear husband William Toth and parents, Vladzimir and Wiera Kabuska. She is survived by, her daughters, Diane O’Reilly of East Brunswick, NJ and Tracy Freeman and her partner David of Laurence Harbor, NJ; sister, Iza Kabuska of WV; grandchildren, Erin O’Reilly, Bridget O’Reilly and her fiancé Joseph, Suzanne O’Reilly; Matthew Freeman and his wife Julia, Brian Freeman, Allen Freeman and his wife Alexandria; Great-Grandchildren Damien, Robin, Cecelia and Finley; and many dear friends.
